Lewis Rhoades grew up around the sheep industry, and in 2015 was able to get his own place and started raising sheep.
"I like the Rambouillet breed because of its durability and longevity, Suffolk and Hampshires for muscle and meat, and when combined, they make great range rams."
Rhoades is a new consignor at the 2025 Idaho State Ram Sale and is optimistic about his experience, “This will be my first year so hope to have good results and meet great people and friends.”
Breeding goals
Rhoades’ goals are to breed rams that will last and produce structurally correct and sound lambs that will gain weight fast with good bone struggle.
Rhoades says he raises his sheep at about 7200 feet, noticing the great benefits that clean air and open space has on his flock. The sheep learn to travel out and eat grass when they are young and helps to build healthy sheep.
