Who we are
Macie Youree started raising sheep as a 4-H project, and decided to start a breeding project. Her mom worked with large framed lamb growers and told told Youree about the difference in large framed lambs compared to the lambs she takes to the fair. This sparked Youree’s interest in the industry and she wanted to learn more about the lambs that go in our grocery stores.
She bought Purebred Suffolk ewes from Donna Mayes (Lost River Livestock). Donna Mayes assisted Youree in determining what sheep she wanted to produce. Youree used the ram crop from her ewe flock to sell at the Idaho Ram Sale, and has continued to do it since. “I’ve enjoyed every year I’ve gotten to participate.”
Breeding goals
"I want lambs with a thick functional bone structure with a long and wide body that has good muscle definition especially in the front end."
Youree notes, “I love meeting all the other lamb growers in Idaho and around and I love hearing about how they do things with their flocks and networking with potential buyers.” at the Idaho State Ram Sale.
